About Relationship

I’m going to write in a conversation about relationship from a podcast I’ve been listening to since last week.
“The person that you are with should be somebody that is okay with the thing that you do on normal basis.”
“It’s not only okay-- both person should be okay without the other person."
“Otherwise, it's codependency."

These points are… apparently, not clear enough for numerous people I am friends with. Last time I went to a sleepover party, they were basically bashing on their boyfriends for not caring enough for them, and they wanted special treatment because they were, well, The Girlfriends.

Nothing is wrong with wanting to be special, but… if you expect your boyfriend is always there when you need a ride and willing to wait for you pass your hangout, you can see me wincing in the corner.

I know, I’m not one to talk, but I have three siblings happily married, you know. I see them interact and sometimes I wonder how the heck they could even meet each other. They are all weird together, hahah (Apparently, my oldest bro never had the title of boyfriend. They just kept seeing each other). Cut the chase, I am not expecting this to be read… I just want to write a rant that has same point of view as mine.

(This is Jules, Jonathan, and Rich speaking)
"Honesty is attractive"
"It's not only attractive, it's essential for any relationship."
"Everybody feels that they have to be cheesy."
"No… you just have to be sincere!"
"Everybody have this idea of this projection of like "when we date someone, we have to go stargazing and we have to give each other our heart" and it's gonna be amazing, but like... you don't actually into that… I don't even know anybody who is f*cking into that."
"I'm into that."
"You're into that, but like, you're not gonna date who only wants to do that. You gonna want to date a girl who is listening to 8bit soundtrack as much as you do."
"I know these people that are dating people who they don't even know, but like, because they're stargazing together they think that it is perfect."
"I think people confused love as something they’re consuming; love very quickly becomes you giving yourself to somebody else and helping them become a better person--”
“But then they don’t accept that! Yeah!”
“I don’t agree with the whole you have to give 50-50 because if you give more than 50, it’s like “Give my 50, Girl! I’m out! I’m out!”
“B*tch keep up with my 50! And then you start arguing who unloaded the dishwasher last *laugh*”
“I think it should be like thinking about 60-60, almost. You should be willing because you care about that other person, to be able to go for extra mile because you genuinely care about them, rather than making contractual agreement.”
“The person that you’re with should be somebody that make you feel comfortable about being yourself, I mean, it sounds so much simpler than it is, but like, you need somebody who deep down genuinely is  okay with the humor you okay with, the thing that you do on normal basis.”
“It’s not only okay-- both person should be okay without the other person."
"Oh yeah, absolutely, otherwise it's codependency."

In part two, they talked about breakup and dealing with the heartbreak…
They sounds so hopeless because they were very busy with career; it’s hard for them to put time and energy for relationship. I hope Jerod’s marriage announcement gave those homies hope though… He is as busy as they are.

"Jerod, Any advice on crushes?"

"I don't know much about relationship, like... I'm bad at it.
My advice is be yourself, and if she likes you for who you are, then give it a try.
If you're fourteen, wait a little while before you get into relationship
because the fact that not everything works out at that age.
If you're older around 19-20, I mean, start looking for somebody, I guess,
My advice on relationship is to not get into one, period.
because it causes a lot of drama, it really does.
I would recommend not getting into relationship
but it's completely up to you what you do with your life.
I'm not trying to tell you AUGHR no sex before marriage! or anything like that either
like... what do you do with your life is up to you."

"you're too perfect to date" I AGREE.
"but you have a Canadian import bride!"
who is a cancer researcher on the way to phD, working as gaming industry public relation, and dancing to anime song
How was that happened?

Of Different Worlds

when I was young, I always imagined my life would be like my siblings right now: be an engineer, have a day work, buddy-buddy with friends, going home to personal life, have enough time for hobby and games.

I didn't expect the "do your 200% or you amount nothing" line of works. The norm of overtime or bring your work home kind of fazed me.... and people of my league is probably thinking: meh. You are so weak.

When I was at Jababeka I saw people live happily with being simple. seven to five work at factory and then going home. dinner with friends, watching dramas till 1 am. have some weekends, you did great job, congratulation.

I wonder how could that be... we live under the same sky, yet we are of different world, it seemed.

It probably does not fair, compare things when you don't know much about these other people. I don't know their pain. Maybe I should just keep my eye on my own path till I reach some crossroads... If there is crossroads. Might as well pick less of two evils in form of alienating yourself.

Fat frog, googly eyed toy, pink penguin, horror bag and... a drawing from unexpected person. It seems like birthday became the excuse of "gimme your best shot amusing me, today." ...didn't realize people actually listen to my random ramblings; should be more cautious from now XD
(Thank you everyone!)

Terima Kasih

Sungguh, aku ingin menangis.

Aku masih punya kalian.

Kalaupun tak bisa bangkit untuk diri sendiri, aku ingin menjadi orang yang lebih baik untuk kalian.
Terima kasih banyak... sampai jumpa esok hari ya, kawan.

Don't Worry, Be Happy

This semester is my first semester in architecture major. I had to put through with this whole deadlines and killer essays after another. Surprisingly, the heavy thing was not how I have to sacrifice sleep, be on duty for hours, or postpone my social life. It was how to manage stress and feelings through series of busy days.

Stress is bad news for health, ya know?

Nine

 photo benderakuning_zps6875fff5.jpg
Realization just dawned upon me.
What's wrong with that number?!

Nine advices before he fell bed ridden.
Nine days in hospital.
He even counted down so.

Nine is first day of Ramadhan.
Nine is my birthday.
...That's why he gave me money, instead of
say, my mom who tended him day and night.

My grandpa... despite his age, he was always coherent.
"Don't go without telling anyone, I am worried."
He cried knowing I ran away, rebelling.
"Please forgive your parents."
He gave me a glass of water after my surgery.
"Always remember God."
He patted my head, breaking the hard time I was going through.

He was the one who gave me advices
when others preferred yelling at me.

He was the one who appreciated my hard work,
despite how mediocre the result was.

He was the one who took me for a walk
while everyone scrambled in bustling days

Dangit Sis, why didn't you go home?
His last request was taking family photo.

In discussion about welcoming graduates, Baruna (Architecture 2012) was choosing concept from 3 alternatives:
A. traditional game;
B. local heroes fighting evil;
C. Ibu Pertiwi chasing away bad effect of globalization
A was scratched by vote, B was sacrificed in discussion, and C was sacrificed too not long after. So the winner is…?
“Local heroes saving Ibu Pertiwi from bad effect of globalization”
… just call it BC okay.

The next discussion is quite gruesome.
How are we going to carry out this theme?
“Can we just do theme BC with the fighting emphasis? We don’t need lot of symbolization in 5 minute show.”
“NO!” “Symbolization is what makes it different.”
Ah, they rejected my suggestion flatly… see? I’m not capable of this.
Then suddenly theme D emerged!
“Searching Ibu Pertiwi in contest, how about that?”
“It’s not feasible,” “Too complex,” “We can’t insert dances there.”
 *tuned out discussion, thinking hard*

“…actually, we can do theme D.”
“How?”
*explaining with pace racing with memory deletion*
“Sorry, I don’t get it,” “Yeah, me too,”
“It needs spoken narration, we can’t have that.”
“We can tell the audience by gestures!”
“Are you sure it can be delivered?” “It’s still complex.”
“No,” I MEAN YES, I HATE YOU ANXIETY
Never mind that, return to previous discussion please.”
Then, I noticed that the discussion was hovering around the fighting theme.
DANGIT I am so done with discussion!

I felt someone poke my shoulder.
“Hey hey Nunu. I think there are too much people in this discussion. Maybe we should working on chants in procession?”
It led to most unexpected thing ever:
Ayya, Maya, Lina and I singing Minky Momo’s theme, to LoonyToon’s theme, to Wiro Sableng’s theme. For your information, this group was never found together before.

I guess become more talkative has its profit.

Flutter of Wings

Since this college stuff started, my mind is cannot be at rest, in peace. Every event has reason, race with time, and then linked to other beast that need to be taken down. Well it's just me... sometime I feel like this one character who is under leveled in tactical game's army. I met many kind of people: leaders, opportunists, silent thinkers, comedians, philosophers, artists, and so on and so on. They're good at what they do and they cover their weakness very well (doubt they have gaping hole or something). Here? I'm just a civilian compared to holy paladins. Trying to have meaningful presence but nooooo I'm surrounded with geniuses.
Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people.
I'm still stuck at category two. But hey, the joy of being underleveled is that you make progress faster than anyone else ...Heh before anyone ask what's gotten into me: I'm just delighted this stage play could be delivered just fine. For once, I did something right in what I had been given charge of -22-02-2013-

Asphyxiated

There are so much actions I dislike to take...
and due the circumstance I trapped in, I would like to tell you the top two.
Right. Over. Now. *take deep breath*

Number one: rely on my memory -which is as faulty as cellphone submerged in toilet bowl- for grave matter. Number two: handle monetary for anything but personal pocket.

Can you guess what the circumstance is?
You don't give an eff for whatever it is? Brilliant!
Well..... I am appointed to sell a batch of food in a day where there's this class consisted of two hundred students... who unmistakably have no small change and too hungry to pay in front, so I will be forced to remember who took the food in calculus and physics... which makes me more frantic because I just remembered the unusually large class will split into four classes that end at different moment, so I will have to chase all of the culprits before they reach their respective home... and I can't refuse the order because I did the other day and then I got a howler fuming over unsold flowers in Sunday night, which of course, was completely my fault.

...doesn't cutting 100k expense count?

[edit] Everything went oh-so-smoothly well! I can't believe my luck, dear God... time and weather seems cooperating to made my day! Firstly, the food came late so I missed the hungry mob before calculus (everyone went for other fund raising food, wahaha). I had to carry a carton box all day, but there was no rush in that... There was this 3 hours break, and behold, my friends didn't go to library, they went to Salman breezeway instead. After that, rain started pouring heavily, my friends were too lazy to wander around, so they just went to last class and sat there... I got so many chance to sell the food! In the end of class, the food was sold out and then the rain just stopped... it was like a permission to come home, uwaaaah... I am so happy :')

Welcome Aboard

After a very very long weekend, 31 days precisely, a new semester embrace us with such open arms... trying to comfort us, it seems, that whatever we achieve last year is in the past. No remorse could rewrite all 'the flying colors' and we can only try the best on the ground we share now. I saw people getting anxious here and there, fusing over calendar, that yes... busy days are near and no one can possibly point the world to yesterday. We are just regular humans after all,
you and me.

But what if we aren't? What will happen if we can return to our happy days where we know the outcome of the action taken? Will we truly be happy if the chance were given (without Dealing with the Devil)? Hypothetical thinking here... no character butchering please.

...
You can iron that crumpled eyebrows of yours now. Thank you.
Well... I would be skeptic if someone offered me a round in The Blue Box. Have you ever played an RPG with multiple storyline? Contemplation* told me that life is similar to those game mechanism: an event, choose the flag, new path opens, the story continues, another event comes, choose another flag and so on. If you have minimum a single save state, you probably will try every flag you meet... but life is no simple game, buddy. It has bunch of flags (understatement of the millenia) and the result you get is so subtle that you won't realize it until it's too late. Can you differentiate the major flags? And the flag you already took... is it really false? The people you meet, the hardship you cut a cross... you may be fail at one point, but who knows where the path will take you to. If you know the direction where do you want to go to, you can choose another flag in future to re-route. Shut up and Trust This.

*The contemplation here is provided by series of event around Monbukagakusho test last year.
>signing up in the scholarship program: major flag
>a bizarre series of coincidences (locating vice principal and homeroom teacher in one go, odd day it was; went to Jakarta the day after, sudden traffic clearing; Given class aaand an advanced chemistry book after graduate in busy days; getting companion, who is my mother's friend's daughter, and many more): God guided me through storyline. It's kind of creepy when you actually feel that He watches veeeryy closely.
>a holiday where I could fill my head: Leveling-up ground
>the test: of course a big boss battle with two path to be discovered. One for win and one for lose.
>studying in Japan: a very steep path that I fail to achieve. Now that a semester passed, I actually am glad that I lost the battle to more competent people :P

Thank you for reading, I'm done here...
........................................................................................................................
but not quite.

This week I watched BBC Sherlock thanks to my friend, pushing my back after I kept glancing to the short series... for months. Fell along with me, was my brother who got interested after I blasted main computer's speaker in front of his work (I'm not sorry!). We watched it together... every single episodes with great interest... and I think BBC does not fail to bring dynamics between the two main characters. For good measure, there is this scene that would imprint in your mind for a while... (TRF, yep)

After twitting this, my bro fell asleep in blues...
...Even though I don't have many friend, I am very grateful for those who always there for me. Thank you again, mate... see you later :')

Weirdest Complaint Ever

(In this scene you will focus at Toothless and totally blocked out of Hiccup's babble. Hiccup the engineer, ahoy!)
Photobucket
It is said that non-verbal cues hold 60 to 70 percent of communication effectiveness. I guess it is true... or partially true, because things like that keep happening nowadays ._.

me: "May I ask something that completely unrelated?"
friend 1: "Sure, shoot away."
me: "How do you buy those drinks? I know you ask the cashier to get the cups... but, what do you say to the cashier to get the cups?"
friend 1: *pause in the middle of drinking through straw*
friend 2: "Why do you have to do that?!" *pull friend 1's hijab*
me: "Huh?"
friend 2: "You looks so cuuuute" *squeal like a fangirl*
me: *pull attention to friend 1* "So... how do you get it?"
friend 1: "...Can you repeat the question?"
me: "..."

me: "-but unfortunately, I forgot to bring my cellphone today... so in case you need me, I'll be in west campus center, trying to finish the RBL project. Buhbyee~"
*walk away*
*pause*
me: "Do you copy?"
friend 3: "Nope." *pinch my cheek*

friend 4: "Being hostile to each other is definitely counterproductive, right? So I said sorry first, even though I still feel it was not entirely my fault."
"But you know what she said? 'You should think first before comment on something' Can you believe that?"
me: "I've been in similar situation too" *went rambling about the subject with active gestures*
friend 4: *stop scowling and proceed to smile unconsciously*
me: *notice the change of expression*
"...Is there something wrong?"
friend 4: "Nuyu... you looks so cute."
me: "Am I ?" *annoyed glare*
friend 4: "...Sorry. But yeah, I agree with you... that was kind of harsh of her."

(shooting photos for Buku Kenalan in front of class)
me: "Sooo what do I have to do now?"
friend 5: "You strike a pose for each photo... one normal pose, one looks happy, and one for natural look."
me: "Pose a natural look?"
friend 5: "You don't. I will capture that randomly at will.
me: *dramatic gasp*
friend 5: "Okay, we're starting now... 3 2 1"
me: *do a composed pose*
friend 5: "Phase 2..."
me: *put one month worth of happiness in an expression*
*some people go inside the class and then pause when they see me*
me: *nervous* "...Is my face looks weird?"
someone I don't know: *astonished* "You looked cute..."
me: "Thanks?"

And... there's countless case of my friends blanked out when I chat animatedly about whatever. While I am grateful that I was considered aesthetically pleasing (narcissism? Yeah I need it for confidence in public... jk), I feel annoyed when people fail to see the content of what I'm saying or trying to do.

The Fai's Guide to Smooth Talk People

[Fai adalah penanggung jawab unit teater 2012. Mohon yang di bawah ini diaplikasikan dengan baik XD]

1. Kalau mau orang setuju, akhiri pertanyaan dengan "ya".
Contoh: "Lo mau jadi yang ngurus make-up, ya?"

2. Kalau mau tegas, akhiri pertanyaan dengan "gak".
Contoh: "Masih mau ikut STEMA gak? Kalau masih, besok dateng jam empat sore di KBL."

3. Kalau maksa orang jangan pake keduanya.
Contoh kejadian (by phone):
"Aya, lo jadi sutradara"
...
"Lah, salah sendiri lo gak dateng. Job laen udah penuh sama orang di sini."
*bunyi ribut protes*
"Coba kalau lo dateng, pasti hasilnya gak jadi gini."
*krusuk-krusuk*
"Oh ada kok, lagi ke WC" <--padahal orang yang ditanyaain gak dateng
"Iya, lo kalau mau tukeran, tanya aja orangnya."
..."Gue jadi pimprod. Mau tukeran?"
...
*senyum penuh arti* "Eh ini bukan kejahatan gue, ini kejahatan kelompok."
(ini yang dateng rapat melotot semua)
"Ah... kok jawabnya cuma satu kata, bosen kan bilang jahat doang?"
*!!!*
"Oh, jadi nambah satu kata... kejam."
...
"Iya... Ya... Siaaap"
...*tutup telepon*
"Noh kan dia bilang "Iya deh". Cuma jual mahal, apa tadi gue bilang, udah hapal."

(Kejadian bonus)
"Van, sekarang tinggal lo yang milih: Danus, lighting atau tata panggung?"
"Gue mau jadi bendahara aja deh."
"Gak ada bendahara, adanya danus." <--orang-orang kayaknya udah alergi sama kata ini
"Gak mau! Itu jadi urusannya si Abdi aja."
"Ya, jadi bendahara kan ngebantuin Abdi juga"
*dapet telepon dari Aya*
"Halo?"
...
"Oh iya, ntar ada pengarahan dulu kok. Eh lo butuh pembantu gak?"
..."Di samping gue? Ini ada si Ivan."
(Ivan bermuka masam)
"Emmm... dia masih nganggur nih."
...
"Ok, sip"
*putus telepon*
"Van, ntar kalau Aya minta pendapat dibantu ya..."

(beberapa saat kemudian Fai dapet BBM)
'Fai, gue jadi bendahara bisa gak?'
"Gak ada bendahara, adanya da--"
*backspace*
"adanya keuangan."

At a Loss for Words

Today, when I was chilling in breezeway of Salman, someone approached my legs and pulled it. Eh... turned out she is my since-elementary friend. Guess bizarre greeting is kinda normal for us, so I ignored the fact that I was dragged on my bottom. After adjusting my sitting position, I said hi to her. She said hi back and not wasting her time, she went rambling about whatever crossed her mind that time. Actually, talking to her always gives me this warm, fuzzy feeling. Changes are not present even though we enrolled different schools for six years. (Ignoring the fact she had grown quite tall, that is ^^; )

At one point, she told me that she is on her way to complete 1000 origamis. 'She sure had lot time at hand', I thought first, but then she explained that she was very busy in past few weeks. Concerned, I asked the purpose of making those folded papers. Is her friend sick or something? The answer was very surprising to me. She proudly said that the papers are for me... and then she apologized that she 'only' managed 300 of it. I... I was not sure what to say after that, I could only stuttered... that I never gave her anything.

Her birthday is two months away... I wonder if I could get her something decent.
What is nice enough to cover that, anyway? AAARRGHHH

Akhirnya

(percakapan setelah pertemuan ke-2 Infinity, huruf miring: saya) XD
"Aku ikut Genshiken juga."
"Oh? Udah ngapain aja?"
 "Kemaren baru dibagi-bagi kelompok..."
"Hah?"
"Dibagi divisi gitu... aku ikut fandub."
"Aku ikut illus(trasi)~"
"Widiw, anak FSRD pasti banyak yang illus."
"Iya, emang penuhnya sama anak FSRD."
"Eh kalau cover lagu ada gak?"
"Masuknya fandub... kamu suka cover lagu?"
"Mana ada, suara saya ancur begini..." =))
"Masa sih? Aku sedang nyari orang yang suka nge-mix."
"Curiga kakak-kakak yang tadi bisa..."
"Harusnya bisa... tapi genrenya pasti beda." :(
(jalan lewatin campus center)
"Kemaren kakakku cerita kalau di Jepang banyak yang suka nge-dance."
"Oh iya! Kalau bikin circle gak tanggung-tanggung lagi. Di mana-mana dan gueeede."
"Iya! Dia katanya ngeliat gitu, orangnya banyak banget!"
"Di sono emang udah umum... di jalan, taman, apalagi di deket kampus--
(kepikiran: Akihabara, Yoyogi, Todai)
--terus gak cuma sekedar nge-dance, dance-nya direkam pula!"
(Odottemita!!!)
"Sebenernya aku ikut ini juga karena itu."
"Aku juga!"
(o_o)
"Eh? Suka sama siapa??"
"...Melochin dan Nyantaro."
(O_O)
"Aku juga suka!"
berdua: "KYAAAA~!" <---ini beneran suaranya jadi "kya" loh ._.
"...eh buset, semangat amat."
"Iya dong, yang suka tuh jarang."
"Yang tau aja jarang~"
(jalan sampe deket FSRD)
"Eh kalian, aku langsung balik ya!"
"Dadah~! Ntar kita obrolin Melochin ya~!" XD

...aku gak pernah mimpi bakal ketemu seseorang yang bisa diajak ngobrol tentang odottemita. sepertinya aku gak bakal ngelepas unit yang satu ini.
